Student Induction Program

First-Year Engineering Department organized an online Student Induction Program on 1st  and 2nd February 2021. The program was inaugurated by the honourable Principal Dr Kaushal Prasad. who also gave a keynote address to the students of First-year engineering. He welcomed all the students and congratulated them for choosing engineering as their career. He gave a brief history of the institute and told that how this institute was founded by Late Shri. P. P. Chhabria with the sole objective of providing quality education at an affordable cost to the students of the remote Konkan belt. He explained in detail about career opportunities available to the students. He explained that how the institute provides the best infrastructure and facilities for the development of the students.

Mr G.D Targaonkar, Registrar of the institute shared detailed information about the scholarship schemes of government, private as well as offered by the institute along with the procedure to apply, documents required, etc. He also shared that the office is always ready to help the students in completing their work.

Dr Yogesh Mulye, Head of the First-Year Engineering Department welcomed the Principal, faculty members, students and parents. He gave a brief introduction and the objectives and other details of the induction program to the audience. He encouraged students to attend the lectures regularly and study hard.  He said that induction program will help students as well as faculties to develop good relation which will help students for making their learning enjoyable. He also shared about the systems and mechanism of the department to ensure smooth teaching-learning.

Prof. U. K. Samant Mentorship Committee Departmental Coordinator, in his interaction, told how mentor and mentee healthy interaction motivates students for studying hard and counselling helps students to solve their academic as well as personal problems.

Prof. Maik Gujar, Member Institute Attendance Committee and Department Coordinator of Department Attendance Committee, gave brief information and the importance of attending lectures and practicals regularly. He mentioned that most of the students achieved university ranks due to attending the regular lecture. He also elaborated rules and regulations related to the attendance of students.

Mr Mahesh Bhide, Librarian of the institute gave a detailed presentation about the library resources and the facilities provided by the institute. He informed students about various sections of the library and told them how to issue hard copies of the books, audio-visual, NPTEL lectures and e-books and journals available in the library.

Prof. Kishor Bhosale, Placement Officer of the institute gave a detailed presentation and informed how the institute is working hard to place maximum students of the institute in the reputed companies. He explained the role of the Training and Placement Cell in training and developing students” technical as well as soft skills to fulfil the job requirements of the industries. He told that the cell arranges career guidance programs, industry visits, expert session, industry-specific courses, internships, aptitude and communication skills training and alumni interaction for ensuring maximum placement of the students. Prof. Atul Yadav Deputy Placement Officer gave further information to the students regarding technical and non-technical training provided by the institute.

On the 2nd February 2021, Prof. V. S Chougule conducted an online test of the students to test students’ basics of English, Mathematics, Computer Science.150 students attempted the online test.

Prof. D. D. Joshi, Faculty Incharge of Students Affairs gave a detailed presentation on the role of the students’ affairs cell. He defined the extra-curricular activities help students to be dynamic, healthy and develops leadership skills, team skills, time management and event management skills. He told in detail that how various cells like Cultural Committee, UHV Cell, NSS, WDC, Sports, Students Association, Nature Club, Brainwaves and Utopia etc. conducts various extra-curricular activities aiming at versatile development of the students. He motivated students to participate in all the events organized by the institute and get the benefits from them.

Prof. J. J. Mane, Head of the Entrepreneurship Cell gave a detailed presentation and motivated students to be entrepreneurs. He explained how being an entrepreneur is better than being an employee. He told the benefits of being the owners of a business. He explained what qualities are required to be an entrepreneur and how students can develop those qualities. He had also explained the types of entrepreneurs and functions. He said that for the financial development of the nation there is a need for entrepreneurs in our country.

In the end, Prof. Yogesh proposed a vote of thanks and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Dr Kaushal Prasad Sir, Principal of the institute for addressing and motivating the students. He has also thanked all that faculties who gave presentations and attended students and parents for patiently attending the program.  The program was attended by 234 students and 15 faculties. Prof Darshana Bapat did the anchoring of the program.
