One day workshop on “Homologation and type approval of vehicles with ARAI, ICAT, VRDE, GARC etc” and group discussion on “What women can achieve in automotive”

The department of Mechanical Engineering arranged one day Workshop on “Homologation and Type Approval of vehicles with ARAI, ICAT, VRDE, GARC” on 10th March, 2018. Mr. Nachiket Deshpande (Manager, Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd. Pune), was invited to guide the students. Mr. Nachiket Deshpande has more than 10 years of experience with companies like – TATA motors, M & M and Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd.  He has done various trainings in homologation regulation and emission testing. He is ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 9001:2008 certified auditor and K.A.M.S. organisation safety coordinator. He represents Volkswagen India in industry college interaction forums and conducts COP and homologation training at engineering colleges.

Prof U D Gulhane (Deputy HoD Mechanical Dept) felicitated the guest speaker and highlighted the importance of Homologation in Indian Scenario. Mr. Nachiket explained the skill sets important for industry, technical, soft skills and adaptability. He discussed details of homologation, type approval and COP.  He also covered important points regarding emission tests, labs in India, BS4 & BS6 emission norms, AISO37 vs ECE regulations, RDE, AIS037 component COP understanding etc. The workshop ended with a group discussion on what women can achieve in automotive sector.Prof. Tushar Kavatkar delivered the Vote of Thanks.

It was organized under the guidance of Dr. Kaushal Prasad (Principal) and Dr. M. S. Kirkire (Dean Academics and HoD, Mechanical Engg.). Prof Gayatri Abhyankar (Asst. Prof) and Prof Tushar Kavatkar (Asst. Prof) coordinated the workshop.
