Webinar on Machine Learning and Applications

The department of MCA organized a Webinar on Machine Learning and Applications on 18st March 2021 in association with Indian Women Scientists’ Association (IWSA), Vashi Navi Mumbai and the supported by BRNS-DAE.

The resource person for the webinar was Dr. Anala A. Pandit, Associate Professor and Head, Department of MCA at VJTI, Mumbai. She has completed Ph.D. from University of Louisville, Kentucky, USA. She has a total experience of 34 years in multiple reputed education institutions and has numerous awards and achievements like IBM, Drona Award: 2008, 2009, 2010, and IEEE Outstanding CECS Student Award, Department of CECS, University of Louisville (USA). The expert lecture was in the subject of Machine Learning and its applications which is said to be the technology of the future and one of the most prominent areas for employment and career.

The webinar began with welcome of the eminent guests and the speaker. Principal Dr. Kaushal K. Prasad then addressed the audience and guests followed by Prof. Tejas Joshi, HoD introducing Dr. Anala A. Pandit. Dr. Lalitha Dhareshwar, President (IWSA) gave an overview of Indian Women Scientists’ Association and the different activities that are undertaken by the association. Other eminent guests, Dr. Sunita Mahajan, Chairperson, Board of IWSA and Dr. Devki R., Member, Board of IWSA were also present for the webinar.

Dr. Anala A. Pandit started with the basics of machine learning, fundamental concepts and explained the different types of machine learning like supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning. The webinar continued with explanation of some basic algorithms that are used in machine learning and how to use them in implementation. In the final part of the session, the focus was on the different application areas where machine learning can be applied.

A total of 142 participants attended the webinar on Zoom and YouTube streaming. Asst. Prof. Rahul V. Kotawadekar coordinated  the webinar and the webinar concluded with a vote of thanks by Asst. Prof. Harshada U. Salvi.
