Value Added Course on Advanced Spoken English

The Department of First-Year Engineering conducted a Value-Added Course in Advanced Spoken English Skills for Second Year Engineering students. This course was designed, developed and conducted by Prof. D. M. Bapat, Prof. D. S. Nangare and Prof. N. H. Gangrekar. It was coordinated by Prof. M. J. Gujar under the guidance of Dr Y. G. Mulye.

The basic objectives of the course were to enable the learners to develop basic language skills of English including listening and speaking, Interpersonal Skills, and Spoken English in a Professional Context.

The course was conducted from 04 October to 03 December 2021 for the duration of more than 30 hours with batch-wise practical sessions. An eligibility test was conducted for the selection of Second Year Engineering students for the course. Total 140 students registered and attended the course.  Basics of listening and speaking skills including grammar, vocabulary, verbal and non-verbal communication along interpersonal skills were discussed during the course. The practical sessions of public speaking, conversations and Group Discussion were conducted.Based on the attendance and satisfactory performance in all the activities conducted throughout the course, the certificates were distributed to the students who completed the course.
