Alumni Webinar Series- A Talk on Profile Building

Finolex Academy Alumni Association has planned a series of lectures for the students by Alumni of FAMT. Many of the alumni have accepted the invitation of FAMTAA to deliver a talk in the fields of their expertise. Mr. Pratik Barve delivered the first talk on Profile Building, on Sunday 13th September 2020.

Mr. Pratik Barve, an alumnus of FAMT, has graduated in Mechanical Engineering with a CGPA of 9.24. Presently, he is working as an Analyst in Goldman Sachs. He has scored 98 percentile in CAT examination and got admission in IIM, Indore. In IIM Indore, He was among the top 10 percentile scorers in the batch of 2020. Before this, he has worked in General Motors, Bangalore for 2 years. During his association with FAMT, he participated and won prizes in many extracurricular activities.

Mr. Pratik Barve, during his lecture, explained how to build one’s profile in Engineering. He advised remembering the larger aim of studying Engineering along with extracurricular activities. He discussed many Dos and Don’ts for Engineering. The takeaway of the talk was to study foreign languages, projects/internships/industrial training/coding practice i.e. skill-building right from 2nd year. Improvement of communication skills is essential. Collaborative efforts in learning different skills will help much. He shared his experience of CAT preparation and interview at IIM. In the end, he answered many questions like how to balance studies and extra-curricular activities, whether MBA is needed for startups, the efforts he took to build a profile during his graduation, whether to pursue MBA directly after graduation, or with industrial experience, etc.
