STEM K 12 activity: Introducing Girl to Engineering

A STEM K12 activity was organized at Hope Foundation’s Finolex Academy of Management and Technology, Ratnagiri on 23rd October 2022 for 12th standard (Science) girl students of Shriman Rameshji Keer Science Junior college, Ratnagiri. A total of 28 girls Students participated in the Event based on the theme –Introducing Girls to Engineering.

The purpose of the event was to advance engagement, promote career opportunities and increase the overall participation of women in engineering. This includes Gender equality for women, including equal opportunity.

The visit started with Mechanical Engineering Department and Workshop Facility wherein these students visited the Centre of Excellence in computer-aided Product Development and Automation, Project Based Learning Lab, Kinematic of Machinery Lab, Internal Combustion Engine Lab, Fluid Mechanics Lab, Mechatronics Lab etc. The projects of final-year students were also showcased during the visit.

In the evening session, the students visited various laboratories from the Electrical, Electronics and Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering departments where various projects like Remote Controlled Robot, Voice controlled Robot, Electronic Dice, Street Light Controller, automated well unit etc. were demonstrated. The participants also visited Chemical Engineering and Information Technology Labs. The visit ended with a student feedback session.

The entire event was successfully coordinated by Prof . Hemant V Chavan ASHRAE and ASME Student Branch Advisor under the guidance of Dr Milind S Kirkire, Head, MED and Principal Dr Kaushal Prasad.
