Seminar on Challenges in Core Chemical Industries

The Department of Chemical Engineering organized a Seminar on Challenges in Core Chemical Industries on 6th October 2022. Mr Sandip Katkar, an alumnus of the Chemical Engineering Department and currently working as a Field Officer in Finolex Industries Limited, Ratnagiri was invited to interact with Third Year and Final Year Chemical Engineering students, with an objective of awareness about the roles and responsibilities of a chemical engineer and challenges in process industries.

The seminar was arranged in collaboration with the Association of Chemical Engineering Students (ACES) and began in the presence of the Head of the Department, Dr Nitin Kanse and Prof. P. A. Giri. Mr Sandip Katkar shared the experience as a Field Officer in Finolex Industries Ltd. and explained the challenges faced by chemical engineers in the production field while working in core chemical industries. He also shared the competencies required by an undergraduate chemical engineer and how to capitalize on technical skills to excel in this field. Final-year Chemical Engineering students coordinated the event successfully. Ms Purva Vanjari hosted the program, and all faculty members of the Chemical Engineering Department were present for the seminar.

The seminar was attended by 32 students and successfully coordinated by Prof. P. A. Giri.
