One-day Training on the Protection of Power Systems and Switchgear

The Department of Electrical Engineering arranged a One-day Training Program on the Protection of Power Systems and Switchgear on 8th February 24 for the students of final-year Electrical Engineering. A total of 42 students and 03 faculty members participated in this program. FAMT, Ratnagiri has signed an MOU with M/s Shiemvolteh, Ratnagiri (official channel partner of Siemens, India). This program was conducted under said MOU.

During this training, students were explained contents like the need for a protection system, different types of faults, different types of relays, SLD of industry etc. The revolution of relays starting from electromechanical relays to numerical relays was discussed. The trainer Shri Gunjan Nehete enlightened the students on Substation automation-need, components, and benefits. Looking at the future of power system protection, Cyber security of power system protection and future substations was also discussed. During the three interactive sessions, students’ doubts were addressed. Three numerical relays were shown to students in the concluding session.

Shri Bhupen Patel Sales Head. WR region, Shri Ashish Deshpande, Technical Sales BD team and Shri Dhaval Mehta, Sales Manager from Siemens, Mumbai guided students on technical as well as Philosophical topics. They all were felicitated by HOD Electrical Dr. J.J.Mane. Special thanks were extended to Shri Chandrashekhar Shinde, Director, Shiemvoltech for his efforts to arrange this program.

Prof. M.N. Tagare was the event coordinator and Lab assistant. Shri Swapnil Mohite assisted him in conducting of program. Felicitation of Ms. Ruchira Nagwekar alumna of FAMT and team of ShiemVoltech was also done at the end.
