Civil Defence Training
A Civil Defense Training was conducted as a part of the Social Science and Community Services course with the aim of preparing students to respond effectively during emergencies and disasters. The training focused on building awareness, discipline, and practical skills necessary for safeguarding lives and property. The training was arranged by the First Year Engineering Department for the students of Divisions B between 11 January 2026 and 17 January 2026 and for Division G between 2 April and 7 April 2026.
The session was led by experienced civil defence personnel Mr. Pagare, who provided both theoretical knowledge and practical demonstrations. The training covered a wide range of topics, including:
- Disaster Management: Types of natural and man-made disasters and methods to handle them.
- Emergency Response: Evacuation procedures, crowd management, and communication during crises.
- First Aid and Basic Life Support: Immediate care techniques for injured individuals.
- Fire Safety: Use of fire extinguishers and methods to control small fires.
- Rescue Operations: Techniques for safely rescuing people from hazardous situations.
Participants were given hands-on training through mock drills and demonstrations, which helped them understand real-life scenarios and appropriate responses.
The Civil Defence Training Program successfully equipped participants with essential knowledge and skills to respond effectively in emergencies. Such training plays a crucial role in creating a prepared and responsible community.
The entire activity was coordinated by Prof. D. M. Bapat and Prof. A. Nandhini, in association with Prof. A. M. Mulye, the Subject Coordinator, under the guidance of Dr Nangare. Head of the First Year Engineering Department.
