Industrial Visit to Shalimar Tar Products
The Department of Chemical Engineering organized an industrial visit on 18th March 2026 for Chemical Engineering students to Shalimar Tar Products Limited, located at Cuncolim IDC, South Goa. The primary objective of the visit was to provide students with practical exposure to the STP plant and various unit operations involved in industrial processes.
A total of 23 students participated in the visit. During the session, Mr. Ravindra Hegade (Senior Manager), Mr. Sapnish Desai (Production Manager), and Mr. Grantesh Takkar (Quality Manager) provided detailed explanations of the working principles, process flow, and technical aspects of the STP plant, along with insights into key unit operations.
The visit offered valuable practical exposure to real-time industrial processes, helping students understand the application of theoretical concepts in a practical environment. It also highlighted important aspects such as safety protocols, operational practices, and sustainability initiatives followed in modern chemical industries.
Prof. Raju K. Marag and Prof. D. C. Dengale accompanied the students. The entire visit was coordinated by Prof. Raju K. Marag, ensuring its smooth execution and effective learning outcomes for all participants.
Overall, the visit successfully bridged the gap between academic learning and industrial practices, enriching the students’ knowledge and understanding of chemical engineering processes.
