Add-on Course on “RF Communication for Real World Applications

The Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (EXTC) Department organized an Add-on Course on “RF (Radio Frequency) Communication for Real-World Applications” with the aim of bridging the gap between academic theory and industry practices in modern wireless technology. This Add-on Course was organized on Saturday, 31 January 2026, for second-year EXTC students, in offline mode at the Seminar Hall EN2/5.

Objectives of the Add-on Course:

  1. To provide a practical understanding of the application of RF theory in real-world systems.
  2. To expose students to industry-relevant RF and wireless communication technologies.
  3. To enable students to correlate classroom concepts with actual wireless products and communication systems.

The session commenced with a welcome address by the Head of the Department, EXTC, who extended a warm welcome to the resource person, Mr. Dhairyashil Chandrakant Patil, Director, Nabhowani Social Foundation, and participating students. Mr. Dhairyashil Chandrakant Patil shared valuable insights into real-world RF communication systems, industry practices, and practical challenges faced in wireless communication design and implementation. He also explained the use of RF communication in Ham radio systems, highlighting its crucial role in disaster management and local community communication during emergencies, when conventional communication networks may fail.

The course provided foundational and practical insights into RF communication, covering spectrum ranges from VLF to UHF, and highlighted applications in advanced wireless systems such as Radio Broadcasting Systems (AM/FM Radio), Television Broadcasting Systems, and Microwave Communication Links. A total of 22 students completed the Add-on Course. The participants showed keen interest and actively engaged throughout the sessions, making the program informative and impactful.

The program was coordinated by Dr. S. S. Goilkar and conducted under the guidance of Dr. S. V. Chougule, Head of the Department, EXTC Engineering.
