Expert Session on Emerging Technologies in Embedded Systems, IoT and Edge AI: Industry Trends, Skills and Career Opportunities

 An online expert session on “Emerging Technologies in Embedded Systems, IoT and Edge AI: Industry Trends, Skills and Career Opportunities“, was organized by the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering on 22nd August 2026.

Dr. Sharada  V. Chougule, HOD EXTC Department, introduced and welcomed resource person Mr. Ganesh Attarde, Founder and Director, GB Softronics, Pune, for this session.

The objectives of this training program were to:

  1. To familiarize students with emerging trends and applications in Embedded Systems, IoT and Edge AI.
  2. To create awareness about industry-relevant skills and career opportunities in these technology domains.

Mr. Ganesh Attarde provided valuable insights into current industry trends, emerging technologies, and the practical applications of embedded systems, IoT, and Edge AI. During the session, the resource person discussed the evolution of embedded technologies, IoT-based systems, Edge AI, real-time applications, and industry-oriented technology trends. He highlighted the growing importance of processing data closer to the source using Edge AI and explained how the integration of AI with embedded and IoT systems is creating new opportunities in areas such as smart devices, industrial automation, healthcare, robotics, smart agriculture, autonomous systems, and intelligent monitoring.

Mr. Ganesh Attarde also discussed a case study on the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) as an Edge Device.

Dr. A. R. Sutar and Dr. V. M. Galshetwar worked as Faculty Coordinators of the session under the guidance of HOD EXTC Dr. Sharada V Chougule. A total of 35 students from BE EXTC actively participated in the online expert session and also shared their feedback at the end of this session.
