Introduction:

On International Women’s Day, celebrated on 8th March, the Women Development Cell (WDC) of Finolex Academy organized a session on “Contribution of Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh in Education, Women Empowerment and Literacy.”

Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh, a visionary leader, social reformer, and India’s first Minister of Agriculture, made significant contributions in the fields of agriculture, education, literacy, rural upliftment, and empowerment of women. The session was conducted for Students, faculty and staff members of FAMT to highlight their remarkable achievements and to inspire individuals towards inclusive development.

The session aimed to:

  • Spread awareness of Dr. Deshmukh’s life and contributions, especially in agriculture and women’s upliftment.
  • Highlight his role in creating educational opportunities for underprivileged communities.
  • Help participants understand how Dr. Deshmukh’s reforms contributed significantly to empowering women, improving literacy, and providing access to modern technologies.
  • Motivate attendees to encourage women’s participation in agricultural entrepreneurship and knowledge-based development.
