A Seminar on ‘Road Safety’ held at Finolex Academy

A legal literacy Seminar on ‘Road Safety’ was organized at Finolex Academy of Management and Technology, Ratnagiri, under the Common Minimum Programme provided by Maharashtra Legal Services Authority, Mumbai, in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority, Ratnagiri and Sub-Regional Transport Office, Ratnagiri.

Under this, awareness was created among the students about traffic rules and road safety, as well as the NALSA helpline number 15100 and the NALSA portal. This programme was concluded on 18th August 2025. At the introductory ceremony of the programme, the Principal of the college, Dr. Kaushal Prasad, explained the importance of awareness on road safety.

On this occasion, Motor Vehicle Inspector Mr. Hrishikesh Korane, Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspector Mr. Jayant Gurav, Mr. Mohoseen Awati were present on behalf of the Sub-Divisional Transport Office. Hon’ble Mr. Rajendra Patil, Senior Civil Judge and Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Ratnagiri were present.

Shri. Hrishikesh Korane, Shri. Jayant Gurav informed the college students about road safety through video and in a humorous style, and cleared various doubts raised by students. In their speeches, they shared detailed information about road safety, road traffic, social awareness about road safety rules and regulations, meanings of road signs and the importance of using helmets. In the current scenario of an increase in accidents, this program was vital and life-saving.

In the second session of the program, Hon’ble Shri. Rajendra Patil shared his experiences about road safety and explained how important it is for students to understand the necessity of safety precautions while driving. He also created awareness about the usefulness of the NALSA helpline number 15100 and the NALSA portal for free legal assistance to the common citizens. In this program, helmets were distributed to 10 students by the Sub-Regional Transport Office, Ratnagiri. 156 students and professors attended this program.
