Motivational Speech on ‘Dreams, Discipline and Engineering’ for First Year Engineering Students
A motivational speech on “Dreams, Discipline and Engineering” was organised by the First-Year Engineering Students’ Association (FESA) on 10 September 2026 at C 1/6, Finolex Academy of Management and Technology, Ratnagiri, as part of the Student Induction Programme, for students of Divisions D, E, F and G.
Dr. D. S. Nangre, Head of the First-Year Engineering Department, welcomed and introduced the guest speaker, Lt Col Prashant Chatur, Deputy Controller, Civil Defence Unit, Ratnagiri. He also encouraged students to listen attentively and make the session a valuable learning experience.
The guest speaker addressed the students about the importance of dreaming big and setting meaningful academic and career goals, while drawing on his own experiences to illustrate the role of discipline, consistency, and perseverance in achieving success. He encouraged the students to approach their engineering education with a positive attitude and to prepare themselves, both technically and personally, for the professional challenges that lie ahead. He narrated success stories of some renowned personalities and explained how students can follow their paths to achieve their dreams.
Prof. S. A. Bandri, Convener, FESA, and Prof. S. S. Shahane coordinated the programme. The students found the session insightful and motivating, gaining clarity on the importance of goal setting and a positive outlook as they begin their academic and professional journey in engineering.
Prof. V. Y. Kale proposed a vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty, staff, and students for their contribution to the successful conduct of the programme.
