A Guest Lecture on First Aid

A Guest Lecture on “First Aid” was successfully delivered to First-Year Engineering students as a part of the Social Science and Community Services course. The programme was arranged by the First Year Engineering Department for the students of Divisions C, E and F on 8 April 2026.

The session was organized with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of immediate care in an emergency. The lecture equipped the participants with basic knowledge and skills to handle common injuries and medical emergencies.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the guest speaker, Dr Preeti Prasanna Mulye, by Prof. Aarati Mulye, Subject Coordinator for Social Science and Community Services, and Prof. Vrinda Kulkarni (Event Coordinator). Mast. Ankur Sathe, a First Year Engineering Student, anchored the event.

The session began with an introduction to the importance of first aid and its role in saving lives. The speaker emphasised the “golden hour,” highlighting how immediate assistance can significantly improve outcomes in critical situations. A sample first aid box was presented to the students to familiarise them with its contents. The instructor explained the purpose and proper use of each item, such as bandages, antiseptic solutions, cotton, scissors, and basic medications.

The whole activity was coordinated by Prof. Vrinda M. Kulkarni under the guidance of the Head of the First Year Engineering Department. The guest lecture concluded successfully, leaving students better informed and more aware of the significance of First Aid in everyday life. Mast. Ankur Sathe presented the vote of thanks.
