First-Year Engineering Students Lead Beach Cleanliness Drive on Founder’s Day

On Founder’s Day (12 March 2026), First-Year Engineering students carried out a cleanliness drive at Bhatye Beach under their Social Science and Community Services (SSCS) course.

Around 60 students actively participated in the activity. The Head of the Department, Dr. Dhammapal Nangare, along with Prof. Aarati Mulye and Prof. Saba Bandri, accompanied the students to the beach and ensured the smooth conduct of the drive. The activity was organized by Prof. Darshana Bapat and Prof. A. Nandhini under the guidance of the Head of the Department, Dr. Dhammapal Nangare.

Equipped with gloves and garbage bags, the students collected plastic bottles, wrappers, and other waste from the beach, thereby contributing to environmental cleanliness and awareness. They also created awareness among visitors about the importance of maintaining clean beaches and reducing the use of plastic.

The initiative helped students develop a sense of social responsibility and environmental consciousness while commemorating Founder’s Day.
