A two-day Workshop on Python, Data Science and Machine Learning Fundamentals for Electrical Engineers

The Electrical Department successfully organized a 2-day Workshop titled “Python, Data Science, and Machine Learning Fundamentals for Electrical Engineers” on August 2nd and 3rd, 2024 for BE Electrical students. 25 BE students actively participated in the workshop.

The workshop spanned two days, with each day consisting of three in-depth sessions. The agenda was designed to establish a strong base in Python programming, data handling using Pandas, and machine learning, ultimately applying these concepts to electrical engineering scenarios.

On Day 1, the workshop covered Python basics, data handling with Pandas, and an introduction to machine learning. Day 2 focused on machine learning algorithms, including regression and classification, and their applications to electrical engineering, such as predictive maintenance and fault detection.

The guidance of Prof. Rupesh B. Ingle, along with coordination from Prof. Sudip Halder and support from Dr Jayant J. Mane, significantly contributed to the success of the workshop.

The workshop was a great success, with students gaining valuable knowledge and hands-on experience in Python, data science, and machine learning. Feedback from participants indicated that they gained a solid understanding of these subjects and how machine learning works in real-world applications. They also appreciated the practical hands-on sessions, which helped them learn how to apply these skills to electrical engineering case studies. The participants were highly engaged and demonstrated a keen interest in applying these skills to their field of study. The workshop successfully bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation, preparing students to use these techniques in electrical applications.
