Bharatdarshanam: Sanskritimala – A Unique Initiative under the Indian Knowledge System

In the academic year 2024-25, the First-Year Engineering Department of Finolex Academy of Management and Technology introduced an innovative initiative, Bharatdarshanam: Sanskritimala, under the course Indian Knowledge System (IKS).

The course Indian Knowledge System (IKS) is newly incorporated into the curriculum as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which aims to reintroduce and promote India’s rich traditional knowledge systems in a structured academic framework. As a part of this initiative, a state-wise exhibition-cum-competition was organized, wherein seven different divisions were assigned to seven different Indian states to research and present. The objective was to provide students with an opportunity to explore and showcase the history, culture, traditions, art forms, architecture, and heritage of these states. The states allotted to the divisions were Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

The competition was held on February 20, 2025, followed by a two-day exhibition on February 20 and 21, 2025, open to all students, faculty members, parents, and visitors. Mr Shantanu Shahane, Mr Kaustubh Palkar, and Mrs Vishnupriya Athalye judged the event. They evaluated the presentations based on creativity, depth of research, cultural representation, and overall execution.

The winners of the competition were announced on February 25, 2025, during a formal ceremony presided over by the Principal Dr. Kaushal Prasad. The results were as follows:

First Prize: Div C – CSE AI & ML – Assam

Second Prize: Div A – IT – Odisha

Third Prize (Joint Winners): Div G -Mechanical – Rajasthan and Div E- CSE – Cyber Security -Karnataka

All winning teams were awarded cash prizes for their outstanding performance.

The success of Bharatdarshanam: Sanskritimala reflects the potential of Indian Knowledge Systems in enriching the academic curriculum and creating awareness about India’s vast heritage. Such initiatives provide students with a platform to explore, analyze, and present knowledge beyond textbooks, contributing to their overall intellectual and personal growth.
