A Seminar on Response Surface Methodology Based Optimization

The Department of Mechanical Engineering conducted a Seminar on Response Surface Methodology Based Optimization on 6^th March, 2019 for the students of Third year Mechanical Engineering. Dr. V.P. Rathod, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department, Government Polytechnic, Ratnagiri was invited as a resource person for the seminar. The objective of seminar was to introduce the students to the optimization techniques commonly used in many engineering applications.

During the inaugural ceremony, Dr. M. S. Yadav, HoD Mechanical, and Dr. Milind Kirkire, Dean Academics, FAMT, highlighted the importance of optimization and benefits to the students with the perspective of Final Year projects and career. Dr. V. P. Rathod discussed the basics of optimization techniques and talked about curve fitting, polynomial interpolation, best fit and strategies for best fit, goodness of fit, Linear Latest Square with matrix algebra. He also introduced the student to the response surface methodology based optimization with hands on calculations based on the technique.
