Two-Day FDP on “Exploring Avenues for Excellence through Sponsored Research, Funding, and Grants”

The Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Department organised a two-day Faculty Development Program on “Exploring Avenues for Excellence through Sponsored Research, Funding, and Grants” from 8 June to 9 June 2025. Dr. Rahul Pandya, IIT Dharwad, conducted the training sessions. 36 faculty members from various departments took advantage of this FDP.

The main objective behind organizing this FDP was:

  • To equip faculty members with the knowledge and skills required to identify, apply and secure research funding from various agencies.

  • To foster a deeper understanding of the strategies involved in crafting compelling research proposals and forming impactful industry-academia collaborations.

The following are the major topics covered during the sessions:

  • Fundamental Overview

  • Research Paper Writing

  • Identifying and Securing Funding from Various Agencies for:

  1. Development of infrastructural resources and facilities

  2. Domain-specific engineering research

  3. Multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary research

  • Dos and Don’ts for Crafting Effective Research Proposals

  • Navigating Key Challenges in Securing Funding Opportunities (Case Studies)

  • Leveraging Industry-Academia Collaborations through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Funds

  • Specific Funding Schemes for Institutes in Tier-2/3 Cities (Rural Bharat)

The FDP was superintended by Dr. S. V. Chougule (HoD, EXTC), along with Mr. Sujay Mainkar (Asst. Prof. EXTC) and Mr. Vinayak Chavan (Asst. Prof., EXTC), who served as Faculty Coordinators. The participants have shown interest in attending such training programs in the future.
