One-Day Hands-on Workshop on Android App Development
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML), in collaboration with the Department of Information Technology, Finolex Academy of Management and Technology, successfully organized a One-Day Hands-on Workshop on “Android App Development” on 16th February 2026 for TE and BE students.
The workshop was conducted by Mr. Farhan Bodale, Department of Computer Engineering, Rajendra Mane Polytechnic, who has extensive experience in Android application development in both industry and freelancing domains. The primary objective of the workshop was to provide students with practical exposure to Android application development using Android Studio and to enhance their technical skills in mobile app development aligned with current industry requirements.
The session commenced with an introduction to Android architecture, Android Studio environment, and project structure. Students were guided through designing user interfaces using various layouts such as Linear Layout, Constraint Layout, Frame Layout, and Grid Layout. The workshop included hands-on practice in developing utility applications like login forms, converters, timers, and picker-based applications.
Further sessions covered core Android components, including Activities, Fragments, Intents, Services, and Broadcast Receivers. Participants also explored database integration with Android front-end applications and implementation of device-based features such as Camera, SMS, Email, GPS, and Navigation Drawer. The interactive and practical approach of the resource person helped students understand real-time application development concepts effectively.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from TE and BE students of CSE (AI & ML) and Information Technology departments. Students actively engaged in coding activities, clarified their doubts, and successfully developed functional Android applications during the hands-on sessions.
The event was coordinated by Mr. Akshay Shetye (CSE – AI & ML) and Mr. Ashish Vartak (Information Technology) under the guidance of Dr. Yogesh Gajmal, Head of Department, CSE (AI & ML), and Dr. Vinayak Bharadi, Head of Department, Information Technology. The workshop concluded with a feedback session and a vote of thanks. Overall, the workshop was highly informative and beneficial, significantly contributing to enhancing students’ practical knowledge and confidence in Android application development.
