An Expert Lecture on GitHub was organized by the department of MCA on 17th January 2018. Prof. Ravindra V. Kerkar coordinated the program which aimed to share knowledge of new technologies. Prof. Varunraj S. Pandit introduced resource person Mr. Abhay Bhave (Developer, Gadre Infotech, Ratnagiri). Prof. Tejas V. Joshi (Head of Department of MCA) felicitated Mr. Abhay Bhave.
GitHub (originally known as Logical Awesome LLC) is a web-based hosting service for version control using git. It is mostly used for computer code which offers the whole distributed version control and source code management (SCM) functionality of Git by adding its own features. It provides access control and several collaboration features such as bug tracking, feature requests, task management, and wikis for every project.
GitHub offers both plans for the private and the free repositories on the same account which are commonly used to host open-source software projects.
This lecture covered GitHub introduction and use of various commands of git. This program helped the students to get knowledge of use of efficient version control service for computer code using git. Prof. Ravindra V. Kerkar expressed the vote of thanks.
