The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Cyber Security) organized a Seminar titled “Cyber Security Career Guidance and Ethical Hacking Awareness” exclusively for the SE CSE–Cyber Security students on Monday, 11th August 2025, from 09:45 AM to 11:15 AM in EN-1/5 classroom.
The resource person for this seminar was Mr. Prathamesh Singhan, a final-year student of the CSE–AI & ML Department. Known for his expertise in cybersecurity concepts and ethical hacking practices, he was invited to guide students on emerging career opportunities and ethical practices in the domain. The seminar was coordinated by Prof. Rahulkumar Tivarekar, Assistant Professor, Department of CSE (Cyber Security), with support from the class representatives for smooth execution under the guidance of the Head of the department, Prof. V. V. Nimbalkar.
The seminar aimed to:
- Introduce diverse career paths in Cyber Security.
- Highlight industry-required skills and globally recognized certifications.
- Connect academic learning with real-world applications in the cyber domain.
- Create awareness about ethical hacking and the importance of its responsible use.
- Encourage students towards early planning and skill development.
Prof. V. V. Nimbalkar, HoD of the Computer Science and Engineering (CS) Department, introduced the resource person. Mr. Prathamesh Singhan opened the seminar by highlighting the growing importance of cybersecurity across sectors and the rising demand for skilled professionals due to increasing threats, breaches, and digitalization. The core session focused on ethical hacking—its definition, types, scope, various terminologies, and legal boundaries— alongside relevant laws and ethical guidelines. He also highlighted careers and scope in hacking, basic requirements for being a good hacker and certifications in Ethical Hacking. Students were cautioned about the responsible use of skills and its relevance to their coursework. An engaging Q&A addressed career planning, skill development, and internships, sparking strong interest in ethical hacking. The seminar successfully linked academic learning with industry needs, encouraging early skill-building.
A total of 47 students from the Second Year Computer Science and Engineering department have attended the seminar. The seminar successfully met its objectives by providing students with valuable guidance on career paths, skill requirements, and the ethical dimensions of cybersecurity. It also created awareness about the need for responsible handling of cyber skills and early preparation for industry certifications.
