Add-on Course on Machine Learning: Algorithms and Applications
Under the Center of Excellence in Computer Vision and IETE Student Forum (ISF)
An online Add-on Course on Machine Learning: Algorithms and Applications under the Center of Excellence in Computer Vision and IETE student forum (ISF) was organized by the Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Department (EXTC) from 17th to 19th of October 2023 with the support and motivation from Principal Dr Kaushal Prasad.
Dr. Hemprasad Yashwant Patil, Department of Embedded Technology, School of Electronics Engineering (SENSE), Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, was the resource person for the add-on course.
Objectives of the Add-on course:
1. Equip students with practical skills in Machine Learning.
2. Enable students to apply Machine Learning concepts to real-world applications.
3. Encourage interdisciplinary understanding of Machine Learning applications.
Prof. Vijay M Galshetwar, Faculty coordinator of the add-on course, welcomed the guest speaker and all participants. Dr. Sharada V Chougule, Head of EXTC Department, graced the inaugural program and delivered the keynote address about the significance of Machine learning in various domains.
The concepts of artificial neurons, Single-Layer Perceptron (SLP), and Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) and implementation of the same using Google Colab were briefed by Dr. Hemprasad Patil. Hands-on sessions were conducted on various Supervised and Unsupervised machine learning algorithms with case studies and using data sets in research and healthcare domain.
An Online Quiz was conducted at the end of the course. The course was coordinated by Dr. Suhasini S. Goilkar and Prof. Vijay M Galshetwar, of EXTC Department, under the guidance of HOD EXTC Dr. Sharada V Chougule.
A total of 65 participants from TE and BE actively participated in the three-day online hands-on program and shared their feedback on this program.
