Silver Jubilee Celebration Inauguration Ceremony
Finolex Academy of Management and Technology (FAMT), Ratnagiri is established in 1996 under the aegis of Hope Foundation and Research Center (Hope Foundation). The academy started its functioning with a single branch in July 1996 and presently offers six undergraduate courses, two postgraduate courses with one PhD course.
The academy has entered 25th year of its establishment this year. The year 2020-21 will be celebrated as Silver Jubilee Year and the celebration is inaugurated on 17 December 2020 at 11.00 AM. Padma Vibhushan Dr Raghunath Mashelkar was the Chief Guest for the function. The function was presided over by Mr Prakash P. Chhabria, Chairman, Finolex Industries Limited, Ms Aruna M. Katara, President, Hope Foundation and Ms Amrita M. Katara, Managing Trustee, Hope Foundation. The event was conducted online on Zoom and was available live on institutes YouTube channel.
The celebration began with Saraswati Vandana by Varad Natekar, Student of Third Year Mechanical Engineering. Dr Kaushal Prasad, Principal, Finolex Academy welcomed all the dignitaries for the inaugural ceremony. The successful journey of Finolex Academy over the past 25 years was presented to all the dignitaries and viewers through a video presentation prepared by Prof. Rashmi Kulkarni and Technical Team of FAMT. The video presentation was applauded by all the viewers and dignitaries as well.
In her message, Ms Amrita Katara cherished memories of her childhood while setting up FAMT 25 years back. The Silver Jubilee Celebration was officially inaugurated by all the dignitaries virtually by clicking on their screens. In his keynote address, Padma Vibhushan Dr Raghunath Mashelkar highlighted the importance of education for a bright future. He also praised the efforts of Late Shri Prahlad P. Chhabria, Founder Chairman of Finolex Group in setting up an engineering institute to offer quality education to the students in deprived Kokan region. At the end of his speech, he gave 5 Mashelkar Mantras to the student community for their successful career. In his address, Mr Prakash P. Chhabria remembered efforts of Late Shri Prahlad P. Chhabria in setting up FAMT with a vision to offer quality education to the deserving students at an affordable cost. He also highlighted the progress of FAMT under the leadership of Ms Aruna Katara by adapting to the technological changes happening in and around the world.
At the beginning of her address Ms Aruna Katara congratulated all faculty and staff members of FAMT on the joyous occasion of silver jubilee celebration. She talked about walking on the road map laid down by Late Shri Pralhad Chhabria. She also described how FAMT impacted the socio-economic landscape of Ratnagiri and rural Konkan. Later various activities planned across the year for the silver jubilee celebration were launched by the dignitaries. Finally, the vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Vrishali Nimbalkar.
The event was anchored by Prof. Darshana Bapat. The technical arrangements for the event were looked after by Prof. Mahadev Naik of Mechanical Engineering Department. The event was convened by Dr Milind Yadav of the Mechanical Engineering Department under the guidance of Dr Kaushal Prasad, Principal, Finolex Academy. More than 500 viewers (faculty and staff, parents, alumni) attended the program on the virtual platform.
