FAMT ASHRAE Student Chapter Held Group Discussion Sessions
ASHRAE always contributes towards environmental sustainability and realizes importance of green products and their potential to improve quality of life. Environmental concern about global warming, urban heat islands, and air pollution has brought attention to the potential use of green codes to ameliorate climate and conserve energy.
The student members of ASHRAE Student Chapter of the Department of Mechanical Engineering organized Group Discussion on Green Building on 29th August, 2018 in presence of Mr. Shankar Sapaliga, President ASHRAE Mumbai Chapter, Mrs. Roshini Easow, Chapter Historian and Mr. Sandeep Shinde, Student Activity Chair.
The discussion included topics like direct and indirect impact of building on the environment. During their construction, occupancy, renovation, repurposing, and demolition, buildings use energy, water, and raw materials, generate waste, and emit potentially harmful atmospheric emissions. These facts have prompted creation of the green building standards, certifications, and rating systems to mitigate the impact of buildings on the natural environment through sustainable design.
ASHRAE student Faculty Advisor Prof. Hemant V Chavan, Prof. Abhijit Date, along with students were present for the event.
