Electric Safety Awareness Campaign 2019
The State Government of Maharashtra celebrates ‘Electric Safety Week’ every year from 11th January to 17 January. There is tremendous increase in the inventions and use of the electronic home appliances in day to day life for comfort and ease. Therefore, it becomes mandatory to ensure electric safety while using these appliances. It has been reiterated in several investigations that the people are very causal about handling the electrical appliances which invites severe accidents and causalities.
Keeping the above facts in view, the Department of Electrical Engineering observed ‘Electric Safety Week’ by organizing ‘Electric Safety Awareness Campaign’ across the schools and colleges. The students were given a presentation on Electrical safety followed by question answer session. The presentation shared information on various household electrical appliances, method of use, precautions, and do’s and don’ts to ensure safety of the users. These trained students are expected to disseminate the information not only to their families but also to their social groups.
53 students of the department approached 11 institutes including 3 from villages and 1515 students. The teachers of these institutes also attended the sessions and appreciated the efforts taken by the Electrical Engineering students. Prof. M. N. Tagare and Prof. S. S. Wamane coordinated the campaign successfully.
