Dr. C.S. Gutthedhar

Dr Chandrasekharappa Gutthedhar was born on 19^th February 1961 at Bellary in Karnataka state. Studied at Bellary till Pre-University, Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (1983) from the University BDT College of Engineering (formerly Government BDT College of Engineering) at Davangere, University of Mysore and Ph D from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai (1989). He joined Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore as Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the Department of Aerospace Engineering (1989-1991), and then pursued R&D at National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore as Fellow in Structures Division (1991-1993). Served as Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Professor, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department and Principal. Also, taught to Post-Graduate (M Tech / ME) students in Design of Machines and Mechanisms at VNIT (formerly VRCE), Nagpur and RIT, Islampur, Sangli as visiting faculty in Mechanical Engineering. Many first prizes were awarded to him in his student days for Physics, Mathematics and Biology. Post-Metric scholarship was awarded by Karnataka state during his Undergraduate studies and got direct admission to Ph D program at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay with research scholarship. Honored him as ADARSH SHIKSHAK PURASKAR by Lions Club, Airoli, Navi Mumbai in 1997, RASHTRIYA GAURAV AWARD in 2005, SAMAJSHRI AND ORDER OF MERIT FOR MANAGEMENT in 2005. He is Chartered Engineer and has delivered many invited talks, lectures and presentations in various organizations / institutions / conferences / industries, and published many national and international technical papers, book reviews and reports. Chaired the technical sessions in national and international conferences and in the panel of reviewers of International Journal of Experimental Techniques, SEM, USA. Technical guidance has been rendered to Undergraduate and Postgraduate students in their projects and industries. Expert member of Board of Studies in Mechanical Engineering of Nagpur University (1995-2000). Member in various committees and sub-committees of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology of University of Mumbai. Convener of various committees. Founder Chairman of ISTE Chapter and established Alumni Association at KJSIEIT, Mumbai. Life member of various technical and professional bodies viz Indian Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ISTAM), Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE), Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India), Aeronautical Society of India, Acoustical Society of India, Association of Machines and Mechanisms (AMM). Served as member in the national executive council of ISTAM (1991-1994) and (2001-2004). Specialized in Machine Design and Vibrations. Presently interested in teaching, R&D, consultancies in the broad area of mechanical engineering, administration and management.
