Electrical Engineering Department has a tradition to organize Elektra, a technical fest every year. As a part of Elektra 18, a Seminar on ‘Opportunities in Defence’ was organized on 29th January, 2018. Colonel R. G. Kadam (Retd.) was invited as the chief Guest. Prof. S. H. Mhabadi welcomed and introduced Col. Kadam. He underwent training in NDA, Pune and Indian Military Academy, Deharadun and commissioned in 1974. He was interviewing officer for SSB and also served as Administrative Commandant, Ground Liaisoning Officer, Director recruiting, Deputy President of Service Selection Board, Second in Command of Combat Unit.
He addressed the students on various opportunities for Engineers in defence, the selection procedure for UPSC and Non UPSC posts, procedure for service selection board, and different stages with qualities required to qualify these stages. Through mock interview session, he explained how the candidates are tested for logic and reasoning abilities. He stressed that young generation must join the defence forces as there are 35% vacancies at officer level. He motivated the crowd by sharing the experience of army. At the end, he advised the gathering to follow self-discipline, values, nation first approach in the life.
Prof. M. N. Tagare proposed vote of thanks at the end of the programme which was attended by 150 students from 10 different colleges of Konkan region along with the faculty members of Electrical Engineering Department. Prof. J. J. Mane, Pratik Gawade and Juily Bhadkamkar took efforts to organize this event.
