Planet or Plastic – an Awareness Programme by MESA

Mechanical Engineering Students Association [MESA] organized a social awareness event “Plastic or Planet” on 16th January, 2019 on the occasion of Founder’s Day Celebration. The purpose of the event was to spread awareness about the harmful effects of plastic to the environment and to provide economically viable solutions to replace plastic with the paper bags using origami technique.

Dr. Kaushal Prasad, Principal, inaugurated the event by paying homage with a garland to Founder Chairman Late. Shri. P. P. Chhabria.The Mechanical Engineering students visited different schools in the locality to spread awareness among the school students through presentations and demonstrations on making paper bags. The paper bags and recycled Kraft paper bags, prepared by these students, were distributed to the small grocery stores in Ratnagiri free of cost to encourage the use of paper bags instead of plastic bags.

MESA administrated the event under the guidance of Dr. Milind S. Yadav [Head of Mechanical Engineering Department], Prof. Tushar Kavatkar (MESA Faculty In-Charge), Prof. Rushikesh Rasal (MESA Faculty In-charge), along with MESA students representatives Mr. Pranay Bullu (Event Head), Rushikesh Dale, Simit Rumde, Priti Panchal, Poonam Velonde, Samiksha Yedve, Shraddha Sawant, Shweta Dhuri, Ashwini Vaidya, Zakhwan Mapari, Pratik Kambli, Omkar Sagwekar, Deepak Kajrekar, GhanashyamKajrekar, Allan Frenandes and Nikhil Kule.
