Fort Cleanup Drive organized by EESA

EESA on Ratnadurg Fort Cleanup Drive

The Government o India has started “Swachha Bharat Mission” campaign from 2nd October 2014 with the aim to clean the streets, roads and infrastructure of cities, smaller towns and rural areas. In addition, it is necessary to clean and conserve the forts which are the historical monuments and the cultural heritage of India and Indians. The restoration of forts is important for conservation of history and for tourism.

Keeping this noble motive in mind, the department of Electrical Engineering decided to work for the dilapidated state of heritage forts in the Ratnagiri city and help in conservation of the historical places. The Electrical Engineering Students Association organized the Ratnadurg Fort Cleanup Drive in association with Jiddi Mountaineering, Ratnagiri on 21st January 2018. This fort was constructed during the rule of Bahamanee and was captured by Adilshah. Later Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (founder of Maratha Empire in India) took the charge of the fort in the year 1670.

Total 72 students of Electrical Engineering Department participated in this drive and cleaned the fort. The plastic bags, glass bottles, used dishes were disposed with the help of Ratnagiri Municipal Corporation. Shri Rahul Pandit, Mayor of Ratnagiri city and many people  appreciated the efforts taken by the FAMT students. Master Yash Maluste, Master Pratik Gawade, student representatives took efforts to make this event successful. Prof. S. H. Mhabadi HOD, Prof. M. N. Tagare, Prof. J. J. Mane and Prof. S. S. Wamane coordinated the campaign successfully.
