One Day Workshop on Additive Manufacturing in Association with COE, Pune

A one day workshop on Additive Manufacturing was organized at Hope Foundation’s Finolex Academy of Management and Technology, Ratnagiri in association with College of Engineering, Pune on 05th January, 2019 for Mechanical Engineering students.

The workshop commenced with an inaugural function in which Principal Dr. Kaushal Prasad felicitated the chief guest Dr. B. B. Ahuja (Director, COE,Pune) and Dr. Arati Mulay (Associate Professor, Production & Industrial Management Dept., COE,Pune). The workshop was conducted in three sessions.

In the first session, Dr. B. B. Ahuja briefed on the manufacturing approaches which involve flexibility and reliability. He also explained the new methods of manufacturing like nonmanufacturing and lithography; and demonstrated live consultancy projects completed in the laboratories of COE, Pune especially in the medical domain. He also threw light on challenges in the rapid manufacturing and motivated the students showcasing the research gaps available in this field.

In the second session, all technical details about 3D printing were explained by Dr. Arati Mulay interactively to the students. She highlighted the basic manufacturing, Reverse Engineering, and AM Process Chain. She also explained the liquid resin based, solid based and power based rapid prototyping in detail. The third session included the practical demonstration of 3D printer to the students. In this session, Mr. Sharad Bansode and Mr. Sandesh Patil of COE, Pune demonstrated all the components of 3D printer along with various objects prepared by the same with some live demonstration. The students also learnt the operation details of the 3D printer.In the evening Dr. B. B. Ahuja visited all the laboratories of FAMT and also interacted with the faculty members.
