A Guest Lecture on Electrical System Design

A guest lecture on Electrical System Design was organized on 23rd January, 2019 for B.E. Electrical Engineering students. Shri. Shailesh Deshpande, Owner- Srujan Consultant, Pune, was invited to deliver the talk. He has expertise in the field of Power system studies, Plant Electrical Design, Load flow analysis, Estimation and tendering. Shri. Nandkumar Patwardhan, Owner, Shrikrishna Treaders (An Industrial Electrical Goods Supplier) was also present for the event.

During his lecture, he shared details on types of faults and their reasons, energy released after such faults, the destruction caused due to faults and significance of arc flash studies.  He discussed the definitions as per NFPA 70E, OSHA 1970, NEC-2002, NEC standards. Further, he explained different types of enclosures, use of PPEs and the measures to mitigation schemes like ZSI, ERNS and differential. He also discussed the relay coordination and answered various questions related to the topic raised by the students.

Total 55 students attended the program. Prof. M.N. Tagare took initiative to organize the program. Prof. S. S. Wamane and Prof. V. A. Sansare assisted him to coordinate the event. The programme ended with the vote of thanks.
